Mayors for Meals 2011

23 Mar

Our first year participating in Mayors on Meals was a great success! We started the day at our offices, packing meals with the help of some new volunteers, city officials and community leaders. With the help of Serve Philadelphia volunteers from around the Philadelphia area were able to connect with us for new volunteer opportunities.

Following our morning kick-off event we joined other Meals on Wheels partners through Klein and Stiffel Jewish

(back row) Board President Kim Morris, Walmart Regional GM Tom McAloon, Cornelius Ingram, Mayor Michael Nutter, Principal Otis Hackney. (front row) JCC COO - Raechel Hammer and students from South Philly High School

Community Center, the City of Philadelphia, AARP volunteers at South Philadelphia High School. Students in the culinary program cooked healthy meals for clients and recieved additional help with packing from Philadelphia Eagle Tight End, Cornelius Ingram and Philadelphia Mayor, Michael Nutter.

Mayors on Meals is just one day out of March on Meals that we are able to bring awareness to the issues of senior hunger in our community with help from dynamic community leaders.

PhillyMINI making a CHANGE

3 Aug

PhillyMINI is more than a group of Mini owners, their organ ization is truly making a change in the Philadelphia community. Alan, President of the PhillyMINI organization along with its members hosted CHANGE 4 CHANGE an event where proceeds collecting from donated change and a raffle all went to Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels.

Shelby race car valued at 12 million dollars

The event in part sponsored by Mini Mainline was held at the Simeone Museum where some cars were valued more than 10 million. It was a great experience for all and most importantly we are able to meet the kind members of PhillyMINI who are helping with out clients who receive subsidies. If you notice we are now wearing our “Its HIP to HELP” shirts which will soon be for sell!!!
